Transcription Process
WESCO has developed a simple, effective process to provide reliable, quality transcription services. This process incorporates Internet technology, a pocket PC, and qualified WESCO staff to provide a cost-effective solution to transcriptions regardless of where the provider may be located, and regardless of whether the business is a health care, financial, or another type of organization.
The WESCO transcription process works like this:
- The provider receives a pocket PC and training from WESCO.
- When ready, the provider dictates one or more files into the pocket PC.
- The provider or an assistant downloads the dictation from the pocket PC to the PC.
- The provider or an assistant uploads the dictation file from the PC to the WESCO Web site using utilities provided on the site.
- The WESCO Web site stores the dictation and makes it available to a qualified transcriptionist.
- Once the transcription is complete, the transcriptionist checks the file back into the WESCO Web site.
- The quality assurance staff randomly selects transcriptions for testing.
- When completed, the transcription file is marked "available".
- The provider or an assistant can access the WESCO Web site at their convenience and transfer the transcription file to their PC for printing or to include in electronic records.
- All transcription files are in Microsoft Word.
- WESCO retains transcription files on its Web site for 24 months and audio files for 6 months.
The WESCO transcription process is an effective method that allows transcriptionists external to a business to provide a function within a provider's organization without disrupting the normal business flow.
